Chris Mee Safety Engineering (CMSE) and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) will collaborate to allow CMSE to deliver CSA's greenhouse gas (GHG) management training program to Ireland and the U.K.
The training program, which was developed by CSA, is based on the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14064 standards for quantification, reporting and verification of GHG emissions.
Chris Mee, managing director of CMSE, said that managing GHGs is becoming a major concern for big and small businesses.
"Employers are bracing themselves for a spate of European-wide GHG taxes that will impact on every business, from multinationals to SME's," Mee said. "Accurate measurement of these emissions will be vital to minimize penalty payments and to save money."
Suzanne Kiraly, president of standards at CSA said the program - based on the ISO 14064 series of standards - is designed to help enable organizations and governments to use the internationally agreed upon best practices to measure, report and verify GHG emission.
"Once a baseline measurement is established, organizations will be able to make plans on how to reduce emissions and improve their carbon footprint," Kiraly said. "CSA believes that CMSE possess the right balance of technical knowledge, expertise and the experience in training and auditing compliance in the environmental field to deliver this training program in Ireland and the U.K."
The ISO 14064 series of standards are designed to provide an international standard for GHG accounting and measurement. They enable governments, businesses, investors and other interested parties to measure, report and verify GHG emissions from organizations or specific GHG reduction projects.
